Job Readiness and Vocational Curriculum

What is just as important as getting an education? Getting a job. Our team is here to help you improve your skills and provide additional support to get you ready for the world of work.
In addition to supporting students academically, the Academy offers vocational curriculum that focuses on career preparation and thirty-five competencies. Career preparation goals are also monitored using the Student Success Plan, which is developed upon enrollment for each individual student.
Students participate in a diverse array of evidence-based activities that evoke higher thinking skills, provide engaging enrichment opportunities which foster personal growth and build character, responsibility, interpersonal skills, and communication skills.
Our team can help students with:
Interview and Resume Building Skills
Basic Employment Etiquette
Developing Clear Career Goals
The Bridge Academy of Southwest Michigan is located inside of the Michigan Works! Berrien, Cass, Van Buren facility in Benton Harbor, allowing youth to access a variety of additional resources. It’s part of what makes our public school academy unique. These activities are designed to support and compliment the individual needs of our students. Our skilled staff and community partners provide the components of the vocational program. Participation in career fairs and off-site trips to businesses and educational facilities will also be a regular part of our vocational curriculum. As a participant in the program, students are eligible for mentoring, internships, and job placement opportunities.
